ME-IR training, Rotor & Wings' unique selling point

Rotor & Wings teaches the ME-IR course for helicopters and fixed-wing airplanes. This course is part of the modular education for ATPL but can also be implemented on PPL or CPL. An interesting course where you learn to make decisions at a higher rate than you were used to before. Flying at the highest level. You will stand out at job interviews.

Multi Engine - Instrument Rating for helicopters

When you start this training, you probably aim for a job as a professional pilot. All offshore companies work with a Multi Pilot crew and fly on ME-IR.

This means that you fly the helicopter together with another pilot and use the instruments to guide you instead of visual flight rules. You can obtain your Instrument Rating on a single engine aircraft but for commercial use it has to be Multi Engine. The level of workload for a ME-IR pilot is much higher than for a SE-IR pilot. especially in case of an emergency. With a multi engine helicopter you can continue flying, in a single engine helicopter you will descend for sure. Therefor multi engine is always the safer option.

The demanding ME-IR education is a single pilot operation. At a job interview you are put in a simulator with another, unknown, pilot and you will have to work together in a multi crew setting. If you are not used to it this can be a handful. We try to prepare you for this by mixing in multi crew aspects in our training. We start the training in a multi pilot concept. Eventually more and more tasks are transferred to the student until he/she is ready to take the exam in single pilot operation. This is possibly the exam with the highest workload.

This way of working is a good preparation for the Multi Crew Course (MCC).

For the ME-IR-H we use the BO 105. This helicopter is adjusted to be fit for Performance Based Navigation (PBN). The Bo's construction is a very logical machine so that the cooperation between the different systems is easy to understand.
